03 / THE PERSON IN YOUR CORNER

Meet Payton.
Purpose behind the practice.

I’m Payton Loshko, a mental performance coach with an M.Sc. in Applied Sport Psychology and a commitment to helping athletes develop the mental skills to perform with confidence and purpose.

My background combines psychology with involvement in many aspects of sport, including participation, coaching, volunteering, and athlete support. These experiences have shaped my appreciation for the commitment athletes bring to their sport and the importance of support that reflects each person’s goals and needs.

I take time to understand what matters to each athlete: their goals, their strengths, and the situations they find challenging. From there, we turn mental performance concepts into clear strategies they can practise in training and competition.

My goal is to help athletes trust their preparation, work through setbacks, and stay connected to what they enjoy about their sport. I want our work to feel useful, collaborative, and relevant to their lives, with support for the person as well as the performer.

WHAT A COACHING SESSION LOOKS LIKE

Talk it through.
Practise a plan.

We keep sessions focused and practical. There’s time to talk, work through a skill, and decide how you’ll practise it in your sport. You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out.

  1. 01

    Start with your sport.

We review how training and competition are going, what you want to improve, and one situation to work on.

  2. 02

    Learn and practise a skill.

We might rehearse a reset after a mistake, build a pre-game routine, try visualization, or work on helpful self-talk.

  3. 03

    Take a plan into practice.

Choose a cue, routine, or short exercise to try in your sport. At a follow-up session, we review what you noticed and adjust the plan together.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING

Before we
get started.

Who is mental performance coaching for?

Athletes of different sports and levels can work on mental skills, whether they want to develop their performance, handle a specific challenge, or enjoy their sport more. I also offer team workshops and support for parents and coaches. We’ll discuss fit and scope before beginning.

Are sessions and workshops really free?

Yes. I’m currently offering these services at no cost as I complete mentored applied experience toward CMPC certification. We’ll discuss what support fits your needs and my availability during an initial conversation.

How do online sessions work?

Sessions are delivered online through Zoom or Google Meet. Use the booking section to choose a time. We’ll confirm the meeting details, discuss your goals, and review the relevant consent and privacy information before services begin.

Can I book for an athlete under 18?

A parent or guardian can start by booking an introductory conversation. Parent or guardian consent and the young athlete’s agreement are required before beginning. We’ll explain how involvement, privacy, and communication will work.

Is this counselling or mental health treatment?

My services focus on mental skills education and performance coaching. I am a mental performance coach in training, not a licensed psychologist or therapist. I do not provide psychotherapy, diagnosis, or mental health treatment. If a need falls outside my scope, I will recommend appropriate professional support.
